MacKay expected province to cover losses

Concert promoter Harold MacKay had an expectation that the provincial government would cover his losses from the Paul McCartney show on the Halifax Commons two years ago, he said in a media release Sunday.

The previous Tory government under then-premier Rodney MacDonald had guaranteed the $3.5-million artist’s fee, and the provincial Tourism Department gave MacKay’s company a $300,000 loan and a $300,000 grant.
